For Patricia Nash, founder of the vintage-inspired fashion brand Patricia Nash Designs, the most rewarding part of her journey has been witnessing the passion and joy her handbags bring to women. "It’s amazing how a simple handbag can create a sisterhood," she shares with Internationista. Drawing inspiration from her travels and cherished memories, Nash has been selling beautifully crafted pieces since 2010—my personal favorite being the Annie Frame Bag. This dainty, functional and chic handbag, made from rose tooled vintage vegetable tanned leather, is a true style statement. Inspired by the roses in the English countryside, the intricate tooled design adds a unique touch, celebrating the natural beauty of the leather through expert embossing and debossing techniques. But, what inspired Nash to found such a a successful brand for the everyday woman?
“A pivotal moment which led to creating my own brand was when I was helping my parents move out of their home into ours they had lived in for almost 50 years,” Nash says. “I found this leather bag in my mother’s closet all wrapped up in tissue in a plastic bag and discovered a beautiful handcrafted leather-tooled, braided leather handbag that her father-in-law had given her over 50 years ago. Noticing the way the leather aged and its beautiful detailing was the moment I realized bringing this craftsmanship and amazing full grain leather in style again and affordable for today’s functional woman could be a winning formula!”
